Just joining the norm =)

--------

Penang. My hometown. The place I go back to every Chinese New Year. Although this is a very very overdue post, I'll post it up anyway. I can't really remember what happened on which day so it'll be just the explanation of the events based on the pictures. So.. Let's begin.

We, our family, left for Penang on the 13th of February which was Saturday at 4 in the morning and arrived at around 9? Although the main reason we left at 4 was to avoid traffic congestion. However, in the end I guess many other people thought the same as us because the highway was fairly filled.

And... I can't remember much of the rest of the day. We kind of spent it in the malls or at the hotel because there wasn't much to do on CNY eve.

Anyways, on to the highlights. All in chronological order... Sort of.

My sister and my grandma's neighbour's dog named Ah Wong. I think they picked him up from somewhere cause I've never seen before in the neighbourhood until now. Also, he's just a young pup so can't be too long since they had him. He became freaking attached to my sister after she petted him just once when she saw him for the first time.

After that, whenever we went over to my grandma's house, which is actually everyday, he'd escape from his owner's house and start cuddling to my sister. Haha, it was pretty funny that she was never able to avoid getting dog drool on herself. Sucker.

CNY COOKIES AND SNACKS. 50% of my days consisted of me consuming these. I ate at least half of what was inside each and every container

CNY begins. So does the photography. Me and my sister Su-Lin.

My other sister, her twin, Su-Ann.

All the cousins from my dad's side.

The process. This is what happens every first day of Chinese New Year. My dad's side of the family will cook up this really huge dinner for the family ranging from my grandmother (dad's side) to her grandchildren. Preparation of the dinner takes from after lunch time till about 7. So it's around.. 4 hours?

The dishes are nearly the same every year except for 1 or 2 changes but we never get tired of it. It only happens once a year after all, and it's sort of like a tradition.

The dinner, but only half the dishes are here. This photo was taken before they finished setting everything so not all the food is here. Some of it was passed around too instead of being put onto the table.

Picture with my parents before dinner.

A view of the famous pagoda from my grandmom's (dad's side) house. It looks much bigger and stunning in person. My family actually planned to climb it during one of the nights during our stay in Penang but as usual, we were too busy with visiting, dinners, family plans and etc. Oh well, maybe next time. After dilly dallying around till 11 at night, we decided to get some supper.

View of the pagoda on the way to supper. When you go to Penang, you need to have supper. Every night. Because in Penang, any food is good food. So we just walked downtown and...

...Voila, supper. The best Hokkien Char ever tasted in my life. Just like that.

Some stray kitten we saw at the place during supper. Sho kewt.

Next, the great dinner to celebrate my grandma's 80th birthday (Dad's side).

Me and my sister, both tomato red. She can't drink alcohol yet she wants to. I can drink alcohol but I turn red anyway. The tolerance is from my mom's side of the family but the redness from my dad's side.

Picture with my grandma. Happy Birthday AhMa !!
Yea, you can totally see the redness of my face.

The whole of my dad's side together in one family photo =).

Finally,

The side effects of drinking too FAST. Yes, not too much, but too FAST. I can still remember my dad's words ,"Drink faster la ! Gulp somemore la ! Think you so clever" echoing in my head as I vomited in the toilet later that night. LOL

Well that's about my whole trip illustrated with pictures. There's actually more to it la but these are the more interesting bits.

YES, I FINALLY UPDATED ON SOMETHING. HAHA. YESS

Yea yea, I know I took long to do it. But I still did. Who are you to judge me? It's like my cousin says...

Whatchu lookin at?
