For the past 3 nights, I finally watched 2 of the movies I have been dying to watch since they were released. On Sunday night, I watched..
WATCHMEN. 9/10
For those of you who have already watched this show and concluded that it was "boring" or "lame" or "sick" or whatever. Allow me to quote Shazmeer and say..
"BOO YOUR OPINION !"
This show is freaking brilliant. A story so dark, so morbid, so violent, yet so amazingly well told and played. An alternate reality of the world, ruled by prostitution and power. A show where the superheroes aren't bloody saints with godlike abilities but instead, they're more like costumed byronic heroes except for Dr. Manhattan(who is freaking epic).
This is the kind of show that keeps you in constant thought throughout the whole screening. At least I was. Okay, so it's not like Transformers or Terminator that has weapons blazing around throughout 3/4 of the movie, but that's not what Watchmen is famous for ! And no, it's not the sex scenes or head cleaving parts =.='. It's the amazing detail in the plot that keeps you glued to the seat. There's that need to pay attention for every part of the story because of how complex it is but at the end, it'll all be worth it. The short scenes that DO contain action are really gory but definitely makes you go "whoa" once or twice. Although there were a few times when I couldn't help but wonder if the heroes really were normal people.
IMO, if you're the family fun movie loving or fast-blast action type, then you'd best not be watching this. You'll only find yourself disgusted or asleep. But if you're into movies with a deep and heavy plot and don't mind if it's gory, dark and maybe a little bit too long, then give it a try. But I gotta admit, I seriously didn't expect that many sex scenes. HAHA
Okay. So anyways, that was the first one, and just yesterday(14/7/09) I watched...
DEPARTURES. 9/10
Simply brilliant. It was REALLY funny. Not to mention touching. I can't describe just how touching this show is. You seriously have to watch it yourself to find out. Let's just say I nearly cried a few times, NEARLY, but in the end didn't. Probably because I was so bloody cold in the cinema that my tears all froze up before they could drop. And thank god the subtitles were quite accurate, if you buy the DVD make sure the subtitles don't suck because that would seriously ruin this kind movie.
So uh, okay, that's it for now. Ciao
